Who started it...

It is the first question out of every parent's mouth, and it is the one that makes the next ten minutes harder.

You walk in. Both of them are talking over the top of each other. One is crying, one is furious, and you have about four seconds to work out what happened. So you separate them. You pick a side. And on Thursday the same fight happens again.

You have already read the ADHD books. What you need is the words, in the first ten seconds, while you are dysregulated yourself.

Sibling conflict in an ADHD home runs on a specific set of neurological differences. Executive function that sits years behind chronological age. Rejection sensitivity that turns a look into an injury. A brain that finds boredom genuinely dysregulating, and a sibling right there who reacts fastest. Different wiring, different tools.

Some houses have one child diagnosed and one who is not. Some have every child diagnosed, and a parent who recognises a fair bit of themselves in it too. Both houses are in this room. These are whole family strategies, built for the ADHD brain and steady enough to hold for the neurotypical siblings and for the adults, because what you are changing is how the house runs.

Sunday Afternoon, And The Thursday After

RIGHT NOW AFTER THE WORKSHOP
You hear it start and your stomach drops. You hear it start and you already know your first sentence.
You walk in blind and work out who to believe. You separate first and leave the judging until later.
Someone gets picked. Nobody repairs. You come back to it with a repair that works, including when a child refuses to talk about it.
Thursday, same fight, same spot, same time. You know which three moments in your week to change, so it happens less.

Someone who has lived this and taught this.

She lives it

Kimberley is a mother of three children with ADHD, with her own lived ADHD experience as well. She is not coaching from theory. She knows what it looks like from inside the house, not just from a textbook.

She teaches it

Kimberley spent over 15 years in secondary education before training as an ADHD coach. She holds a Bachelor of Human Movement and a Bachelor of Secondary Teaching from Charles Sturt University. She has sat across from thousands of teenagers in a classroom. She knows how they think, what shuts them down, and what gets through.

She is formally trained in it

Kimberley completed her ADHD coach training through ADDCA — the gold standard in ADHD family coaching. Her coaching is strengths-based and relationship-centred, grounded in the belief that every young person is whole and capable, not broken or behind.

What the three hours cover

A real run sheet, not a vague agenda.
There is a script in every block, and the first one lands inside twenty minutes.
1.00
The first ten seconds
One script, straight up. Separate first, do not referee, reflect and collaborate later. So you have something to use tonight, before you have learned anything else.
1.20
Why they fight
The factors stacking up in your house, what executive function has to do with it, why baiting is a body need rather than a choice, and an honest answer to the question most parents are too frightened to ask out loud.
Script: the child who starts it on purpose.
1.55
Heading it off
The environment, family culture, and the kind of connection that still works with a teenager. So you stop spending your week refereeing the same three flashpoints. Scripts: the defuse word, micro connections, and the family meeting opener.
2.30
Your own nervous system
What to do when you are the one absorbing all of it, hour after hour, and there is nothing left in the tank by 5pm. Script: what to say when you have got nothing left.
2.45
Fifteen minute break
Stretch, make a cup of tea, check nobody has set anything on fire.
3.00
When you cannot separate them
The Competent Captain framework, the 3Cs, and the teen version of every tool. So the strategies still work when they are bigger than you and walking away is not an option. Scripts: the child who flatly refuses to talk about it afterwards, and the repair you run the next day instead.

What you walk away with

  • The Script Bank. Every script from the day in one place, so at 5pm you are reading rather than inventing.
  • Tools that work on the whole house. Built for the ADHD brain and steady enough for the neurotypical siblings and the adults, so you run one system instead of three, whether one of your children is diagnosed or all of them are.
  • A teen version of every tool. Crouching to a seven year old's eye level does nothing for a fifteen year old, so you get both and you stop guessing which one to reach for.
  • A next step for every strategy. What to do when a tool does not land the first time, so you have somewhere to go with it instead of shelving it.
  • The Parent Playbook. Yours to keep, so you can listen properly on the day instead of taking notes.
  • The replay for 6 months. Watch it again in December when the holidays come round, and in February when term resets everything, so the tools come back to you at the point you need them.

Who is running it

ADHD COACH

Sharon Collon

Founder of The Functional Family. PCC credentialled ADHD coach and parenting consultant, ADDCA trained and ICF certified, with more than 40,000 families supported.

Mum of three boys. Her house has ADHD, autism, tic disorder, ODD, OCD and SPD in it. She is not observing this from the outside.

PSYCHOLOGIST

Jacquie Ward

Registered psychologist and a mum to a neurodivergent child. She holds the clinical framework and the developmental science, and she will tell you honestly when something needs more than a strategy.

Most parenting content gives you lived experience or clinical rigour.
Here you get both in the same room, answering the same question about your house.

What parents took home

Amanda

"Having the scripts of what I should say in the heat of the moment. Attention is stimulation, look to find micro connections. Bring on the tickle monster."

Trish

"I've been following you both for many years now and I was very excited to see the two of you come together and create this course, thank you both for your passion to bring us this information ❤️."

Andrea

Thank you Sharon and Jacquie for sharing your wisdom... our competent captains! I feel seen, validated and equipped ❤️."

9.25 out of 10 average recommendation score from May's feedback survey.
